| Sound Ratings(s): | Starjelly08 Sound Rating YES. First truly great soundboard in the lineage. Pretty much crystal clear. Drums and vocals are on top a bit, Guitar is a little thin in the low end, but some saucy high end helping to make it sound fairly full anyway. Almost sounds like a different amp than his usual. Perhaps a rental due to being overseas? Decent amount of Stereo effect... mostly on the drums and vocal effects. But with a four piece...thats usually how it goes. Shouldn't really pan the only two string instruments much, if at all. Bass has gotta line up with the kick...and if the guitar is on the left, and you are on the right...well, you aint hearing it. No complaints there. Some crackling. Not in your face. Barely disrupts it. Sounds like a mic on the drums had a bad connection or something...only happens at times he's playing out of the right channel mostly. Cymbals sound how we like them on undertow. Real clear...miles above the sound in outerspace. The kick and snare are pretty middy. The bass guitar could use some volume and low end as well, and some of that clunk i Miss in the high mids. Otherwise not bad. Vocals are pretty much the best they can be. Just a touch loud. But hey, people usually balk about them being a bit quiet on the records so, this is for those guys. All around great recording, some flaws that give it charm and make it imperfect, but still absolutely great. Seems as a band, this is about when they really got some of their material that needed work fleshed out and in final, or near final form. Im sure that after working with Massey and company in the studio...thats when they ironed it all out. One of the first shows after recording Undertow. Muchos Gracias to the taper. Will be remastering this one. I love when there is stereo. It means I can do "Mid-Side Processing" which gives me the ability to edit things more directly and affect other sounds less while working on certain sounds. Awesome. hodor Sound Rating Some snap, crackle, and pop but generally a good SBD capture. Love the animal sound call/response before Opiate! deckard74
Sound Rating And then Undertow came out! Is it just me, or does the tempo seem a little slow on this one? Great soundboard recording tho, with Intolerance, Prison Sex, and Flood thrown into the lineup! | ||||||||||
