An absolute brutal set-list and personal favorite, perfectly blending hard-knuckle, early Tool with evocative renditions of Undertow material. Of note is the general laid-back nature of the crowd, Maynard's disgustingly broken scream during Undertow and subsequent claims of "having to cut it short" due to Danny having a dentist appointment (personal speculation that the wine got to him that night), and chastising the crowd for being too quiet ("This isn't rock 'n roll, nothing's gotten broke yet... You kids are boring the fucking shit out of me... Not saying you should light anything on fire, but that's what rock 'n roll is about..."). Not the highest fidelity recording, but the continual Maynardisms and savage energy produced by the band showcase their early commitment to healthy auditory violence. Cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese.

Excellent capture by the French prophet (SD). So awesome that he has provided this trove of recordings where the band is just working their shit out. Ironic (maybe not) that the gestation period of Tool was heavily ground in the soil of France. And it is true, MJK sounds like Tarzan at the end of Undertow and Paul is drunk af.
